Frequently Asked Questions – Insecticides

  • What are insecticides?

Insecticides are a subgroup of biocides, specifically designed to control insects. They include chemical or biological substances that kill or repel harmful insects such as mosquitoes, cockroaches, ants, moths, wasps, and others. Insecticides are widely used both in agriculture and in household environments.

  • How do insecticides work?

Insecticides destroy insects either by contact or by ingestion. Some act quickly, while others have a long-lasting effect.

  • Which insecticides are most effective against cockroaches?

Gels and sprays containing acetamiprid-based insecticides are often the most effective.

  • How long does it take to see results after using an insecticide?

It depends on the product. With fast-acting sprays, results can be seen within minutes, while with gel baits it may take a few days for the bait to reach the insects’ nest.

  • Can an insecticide harm my plants?

Some insecticides can damage plants. Use only products specifically designed for treating plants. Before using a particular product, please carefully read its label, which is available on the product page and can be downloaded as a PDF document under the "Documents" section.

  • How often should I spray to control insects?

The frequency depends on the product and the level of infestation. Follow the manufacturer's instructions provided on the product page and available as a PDF document under the "Documents" section.

  • What is the best way to control mosquitoes?

Insecticidal lamps are effective, as well as specially designed products for treating and spraying outdoor vegetation, lawns, bushes, leaves, exterior walls and eaves of houses, window and door frames.

  • Can I use insecticides in the bedroom?

Yes, but make sure to ventilate the room well after use and follow the instructions on the label.

  • Which products are best for bed bug control?

Insecticidal sprays specially developed for bed bugs are effective. We recommend using KnockOut Universal for severe infestations.

  • How can I prevent an ant infestation?

Use ant baits that they carry to their nests and seal all openings in your home. Our ant control products have a delayed and cascading effect. You can find them in the “Ants” category.

  • What should I do if flies do not disappear after treatment?

Check for sources of attraction (food, waste) and use specially developed baits or insecticidal lamps to attract and eliminate flies. We do not recommend increasing the dosage stated on the label or mixing different products for a stronger effect—this can be dangerous!

  • What should I do if I find a wasp nest near my home?

Use products specially registered for wasps or hornets that contain a combination of active ingredients. An example of such a product is Antivespe: https://bugaway.info/products/antivespe-750-ml/. We recommend using special protective clothing. Do not treat the nest yourself if it is large or if you are allergic—seek professional help.

  • How can I protect my home from fleas?

Treat your pets with veterinary products and use insecticides for carpets and furniture. Also, treat outdoor areas. We offer suitable products against fleas and ticks, but even after eliminating them, it is important to focus on the source of the infestation to prevent them from returning.

  • Which insecticides are safe to use in the kitchen?

Use products specifically designed for use in food preparation areas, and ventilate well after application. Products suitable for such areas are indicated on their labels. You can download and review the label for all our products on their individual product pages, just below the description.
